Trace (“the app”) is published by Trace Screens. This policy explains what data the app processes, where it stays, and what may leave your device. See also our Terms of Service.
When you grant photo access, Trace scans folders you enable in Tools → Gallery folders. Extracted text, labels, and references to photos are stored locally so you can search.
Trace does not require an account and does not upload your photo library to our servers.
You can:
In Tools → Write feedback, you choose whether to send a message. When you tap Send, the app may transmit your message via a secure HTTPS form, or open your email app with a pre-filled message to [email protected] — depending on how the app was built. Nothing is sent until you tap Send.
Feedback may include: your message, app version (in the subject line), and basic device information (manufacturer, model, Android version). Photos and OCR text are not attached automatically.
Subscriptions and restore purchases are processed by Google Play. Google may collect payment and purchase data under its own privacy policy. Trace receives subscription status from Google Play to unlock Pro features; we do not receive your card number.
Trace does not integrate advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs.
Trace disables Android cloud backup for its app data where supported. Encrypted index and preferences stay on your device unless you erase them or uninstall Trace.
Trace blocks unencrypted HTTP network traffic in the app. Optional feedback in release builds uses your email app (TLS).
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have rights to access, rectify, or delete personal data we hold about you (mainly feedback emails you sent us). On-device data can be deleted using Erase all Trace data in the app or by uninstalling.
Contact: [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Legal basis: app functionality (local processing you request); contract (Trace Pro via Google Play); legitimate interest (support emails you send); consent where required (e.g. optional notifications).
Trace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
